Pelvic Pain

12-20% of women complain of chronic pelvic pain.  According to the National Pain Foundation, 60% never receive a specific diagnosis and approximately 90 million women in the world have endometriosis.

Causes of pelvic pain could be Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, bones and muscles.

Common causes are:
  • Endometriosis.
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease / infection
  • Constipation
  • Adhesions and scarring
  • Bladder problem (eg cystitis)
  • Ovarian cysts

Mr Sanusi offers a range of investigations, diagnostic tools and treatments.  As Mr Sanusi can perform ultrasound scans himself, he is often able to offer a diagnosis in the clinic.  For example if an ovarian cyst was present it is likely to show up on the scan.   He also performs laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and offers investigations for bladder problems if indicated.
